Hiking for Hope (H4H) is more than an event—it’s a movement. We inspire individuals to reset, retreat, and revive by immersing in nature, fostering collective healing, and embracing wellness as a way of life.

Our events combine the rejuvenating power of the outdoors with innovative activities that engage the body, mind, and spirit. Through hiking, fitness, mindfulness, and community-building, we empower participants to heal, connect, and thrive.

Our Story

I began hiking as a deeply personal journey. When I first moved to this area, I felt alone and disconnected. Running and walking outdoors became my solace—a constant companion through my divorce, health challenges, career shifts, and life’s inevitable ups and downs.

Nature walked with me through my toughest times, offering healing and hope. It became my safe space, my guide, and ultimately, my inspiration to help others discover its transformative power.

The idea took root after teaching a boot camp class when my friend Dee suggested starting an outdoor walking club. She shared how walking outdoors after work helped her manage stress and clear her head. Inspired, I began organizing small hikes.

We laughed, hiked, and created a space where joy and connection thrived. But the true turning point came when I learned that a member of my support group and her son had lost their lives to domestic violence. That moment changed everything.

I knew we had to do more. Partnering with other instructors and healers in the area, we expanded Hiking for Hope from a small group of hikers into a nationwide movement—a retreat experience designed for hometown healing.

Today, Hiking for Hope operates on the East and West Coasts and even has partners in China. Our events include options for everyone:

  • Gentle Walks: For those who prefer shorter, less strenuous distances.

  • Virtual Hikes: Bringing the experience to participants who cannot join in person.

  • Challenging Trails: For athletic participants looking for a more rigorous adventure.

We also incorporate scavenger hunts, hope self-care bags, and activities led by master instructors, healers, and practitioners.

At its core, Hiking for Hope is about community, empowerment, and the belief that together, we can heal, thrive, and grow.

Through our H2O mission — Hiking + Hope = Oxygen — we empower BIPOC women and future community leaders with a breath of life, fostering well-being through forest bathing, movement, community building, mindfulness, and meditation. Our hikers, as fitness philanthropists, contribute to a cycle of giving: they support Hiking for Hope, which then donates to women-driven nonprofits that champion holistic health for all.
